Still getting worse

Sitting here watching the news is not an enjoyable thing. Every day Victoria seems to break previous records for the number of cases. Aged care homes are particularly at risk and there are more features expected.

More reports of idiots collecting in groups, too say nothing of the dolts claiming that the requirement to wear a mask is an abrogation of their human rights. Jobs are being lost, businesses closing.

It's getting more scary every day.

Still no good news

Victoria's numbers are not improving ... yet. Things are not helped by people not isolating themselves when they get tested, while waiting for the results. It all just justifies my comment months ago that I don't trust other people.

I didn't end up talking to the doctor today. I might try again tomorrow, but it does seem that my hip is getting better.

Saw both Brent and Kat today: Brent dropped around a copy of the Beethoven book he translated (to be passed on to David Z for a couple of programs on Ferdinand Ries); later Kat dropped in some Panamax that she kindly bought for me. Both kept their distance, leaving their offerings on the doorstep before knocking. It was very pleasant you see them both.

This month's mailout will be on Friday. I generated the labels today and will print them out on Friday morning.

I am getting a bit bored by all this - I want to eat a meal that someone else has committed.

Another weekend

Things this past week have been getting worse, with increasing numbers each day. However today's numbers were down on the past few days. Let's hope it's not just a one off.

On Tuesday I went into the radio station and picked up a USB microphone so I can record Singers and Songs from home. I did next week's program fairly easily and Adrian seemed happy with it, so there's something else to keep me occupied.

For the last week or term days my left hip had been quite painful. I thought it was improving butt I don't think I did myself a favour going for a brisk walk this afternoon. I've got an appointment with Andrew for next week (well, I'm on the waiting list), but I'm not sure how much can be achieved in a phone consultation.

Thursday's appointment with the urologist had a positive result - the test results were all encouraging, as was the ultrasound. I'll see him again in a year.

Back to square one

We're back in stage 1 lockdown - only four reasons to leave the house: shopping, exercise, medical and work or school. And schools are being shut again with return to home learning from July 20, when holidays finish.

The number of cases keeps growing each day; it will be probably a week before we see the effects of the high-rise lockdown, and longer for the effects of the general lockdown.

I've taken to wearing a mask, which in this cold weather is annoying because my glasses keep fogging up. I presented The Romantics yesterday - Ruth, who was originally going to do it, had come down with a cold on Friday so withdrew. She got in touch yesterday to say she got her result which was negative. A relief.

So I've known a few people who've had tests, but no-one who's tested positive. In fact I don't think I know anyone who knows anyone who's had the virus, though I suspect that will change.

Tests

Last night I went with P&B to Noel's, where we had yet another delicious meal, this time yummy peas and spinach curry. I wore a mask on the bus and trams, first time I've worn one out - a bit annoying when my glasses fog up.

This morning I was up early to get out when the cleaners arrived. Today I went up to the medical centre to get tests done before my visits too both the urologist and the cardiologist next week. Having two different request forms caused Mary a little trouble, but it all worked out ok. Luckily she needed a urine sample as well, as I was busting.

Then home via the IGA for the paper and Mavis for coffee.

Second walk this afternoon was to Blackhearts and Sparrows for a bottle to take to Stewart and Suse's tomorrow - lunch for their birthdays.

Catch up

More of the same, I'm afraid. I presented Daybreak on Monday, went in to breakfast with Stewart and Loretto on Tuesday, Zoomed with the Wednesday group then with Margaret on Wednesday, recorded a couple of interviews with Julie on Thursday, and finally today recorded Richard's program.

The highlight of the week has to be watching Hamilton tonight. It didn't disappoint and left me blubbing on the sofa.

Must finish repackaging Monday's programs tomorrow. I think we're running at Noel's on Sunday.

Meanwhile the case count in Victoria is still elevated.
