Satisfying weekend
Yesterday I shopped on my own as B&P had buzzed off to the Grampians with Phoebe. I took the shopping jeep up to Smith Street, which was its usual gorgeous self. DG came around in the evening and we went to Victoria Street for a tasty Vietnamese meal.
On Friday Tat and I went to rehearsal at St John's with Prof Biller from the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. His English is better than we'd been led to believe and he has a nice clear beat. This morning we sang the whole thing, punctuated with the sermon, and it went off quite well although the orchestra wasn't quite up to its usual standard.
This afternoon I wandered up to Fitzroy to attend JM's 60th birthday party. I knew J in the early 70s and have only seen him occasionally over the last 30 years so I was a little surprised (although very pleased) to be invited. It was a lovely party and despite hardly knowing anyone I had a great time, meeting several very pleasant people and catching up with PN (ex-Age cartoonist) whom I hadn't seen for some time. I hope to catch up with J and P soon, and keep the connection active.
